I updated the website today and almost all images have been lost by mistake. I’ll try to fix this as soon as possible and update the layout a little to make it compatible with 1024×768 screen resolution and more easy to read. Let me know if you have any suggestion or a special recipe that you are looking for ;)

BaklawaThe first sweet recipe on our website will be obviously the Baklawa with two varieties ! Greek-style Baklawa, which is common in the west, uses honey in the syrup. More typical Egyptian Baklawa does not. Recipes for syrup variations are included here. A tip to make it good Never pour hot syrup over hot baklawa; it will make it soggy ! Syrup must either be cool and poured over hot baklawa or hot and poured over cooled baklawa. Enjoy !
Ingredients :

  • 2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1 cup almonds, finely chopped (optional – this is found in Greek baklawa)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups clarified, melted butter
  • 2 Ts. cinnamon
  • 1 Tb. Orange blossom water (mazahar)
  • 1 package phyllo dough (1 lb. Or 454 gms.)
  • Syrup (see below for variations)
